Burgundy, in allover checks
A deep burgundy that reads magenta where the light catches it, worked over in a small, even check that covers the whole body of the saree.
The design
Fine checks run across the body at a small scale, so the colour stays soft rather than graphic. They meet a broad golden zari border, and a darker brown-toned pallu closes the drape with kuchu tassels at the edge. The bugdi border is woven so its design reads the same on both faces.
How it is woven
Woven by master weaver Aafreen in Mominpura, the weaving quarter of Maheshwar. The saree is handwoven on a pit loom with the weft inserted by hand, and the checks are set on a dobby across body, border and pallu.
