Turquoise and cream paisley blooms, with tassels along the dupatta.
- Colour-fast - no bleed on the first wash, cream against turquoise included
- Tassel trim on the dupatta ends, finished before it reaches you
- A complete unstitched set with 2.5 m on every piece
The bloom
The motifs here are larger than most block prints in the range - floral and paisley shapes at a medium scale, printed in cream on a turquoise-leaning royal blue, with light pink appearing inside the blooms.
The dupatta ends in a plain solid band and a fringe of tassels, which stops the eye and gives the busy print somewhere to rest.
Wearing it
A medium-scale floral flatters a taller frame and a straight cut, so keep the kurta long and the silhouette simple. Pearl or cream stone jewellery echoes the print; a cream inner is the obvious choice. It is a strong day-wedding and festive-lunch set.
Larger motifs need larger carved blocks and more careful placement, since every misalignment is visible at this scale. That difficulty is the reason most affordable block prints stay small.
The set
Top: 2.5 m, 44 to 45 inches wide
Bottom: 2.5 m, 44 to 45 inches wide
Dupatta: 2.5 m, 35 to 36 inches wide
Fabric: Katan silk, hand block printed with hand-carved wooden blocks
Lining: not required, the fabric is opaque; add one only to elevate the look
Stitching: up to 4XL for straight kurta sets, with length customised for larger sizes
Weight: 600 to 650 g for top, bottom and dupatta together
Care: dry clean the first time, then a gentle cold hand wash
Dispatch: dispatched the next working day, even though every metre is printed by hand
Where two large blooms meet, the join is not invisible. It is not meant to be - that seam is the evidence of a block set down by hand.
